Knicks play in front of smallest crowd in 13 years after Spike Lee spat

If there was any question of whose side fans were on in the New York Knicks-Spike Lee spat, the answer became obvious at Wednesday’s game against the Utah Jazz. The game drew the Knicks’ smallest crowd in 13 years.

Only 16,588 fans turned out for the game, leaving 3,200 seats in Madison Square Garden empty, MSG reports. It was the smallest turnout since 2006, when 15,895 people showed up to watch a game against Atlanta.

The trouble began earlier this week when Lee was barred from using an entrance he says he’s used for the past 28 years. After a much publicized argument with officials, the diehard Knicks fans stormed off — and vowed he’ll never again attend a Knicks game.

Do you think the small crowd had anything to do with Spike Lee’s issues with the Knicks? Which side is being a bigger jerk in this dispute?
