NHL Free Agency began at noon yesterday afternoon with numerous players either staying put at their previous employer or moving on to new destinations. In regards to the Red Wings, General Manager Steve Yzerman started off the week by re-signing numerous mainstays to fill some immediate holes with others providing extra depth at the American Hockey League (AHL) in Grand Rapids. Notable re-signed players include Sam Gagne, Gustav Lindstrom, and Taro Hirose, but with free agency comes the departure of some key contributors over the past few years in Grand Rapids native Luke Glendening and Jonathan Bernier.
