Detroit Tigers Catcher/Outfielder Eric Haase was named the American League’s Rookie of the Month for July after hitting .265 with nine homers, 29 RBIs and a .945 OPS over 23 games in July. Prior to the Haase announcement, the last time the Tigers had a Rookie of the Month winner was back in 2010 when Brennan Boesch claimed back-to-back honors in May and June of that year.
This season, the 28-year-old and former 2011 seventh round pick of the Cleveland Indians is batting .246 with 18 home runs, 46 RBI, and an .856 OPS. The 18 homers and .856 OPS currently lead the Tigers, while the 46 RBI ranks fourth on the team.
Eric Haase is Tigers’ first AL Rookie of the Month winner since Brennan Boesch won it in May and June 2010. Michael Fulmer won AL Rookie of the Year in 2016 without ever winning the monthly award. https://t.co/5kdR4LiyoO
