Steve Yzerman’s second move of the NHL Trade Deadline is dealing another defenseman to the Western Conference as Nick Leddy, along with Luke Witkowski, has been dealt to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Defenseman Jake Walman, Center Oskar Sundqvist, and a second-round pick in 2023.
After being acquired in a trade with the New York Islanders this past offseason, Leddy posted 16 points (1 goal and 15 assists) in 55 games with the Red Wings this season. However, Leddy tallied a minus-33 plus-minus rating meaning the 31-year-old was not great in even strength situations.
The 26-year-old Walman comes to Detroit after posting four goals and four assists in 57 games played with the Blues, while the soon-to-be 28-year-old Sundqvist spent two years in Pittsburgh (2015-17) and nearly five seasons in St. Louis (2017-22) accumulating 36 goals and 51 assists in 270 career games played.
