Major League Baseball Rejects Monmouth University’s Proposal To Overturn Armando Galarraga’s Near-Perfect Game

It was worth a shot.

For almost all Detroit Tigers fans, the date June 2, 2010 will forever be etched in history as the Armando Galarraga near-perfect game, or in so few words, the night the Galarraga and the Tigers were “Jim Joyced” (i.e. hosed, screwed, robbed, etc.) from a perfect game happening.

Many have clamored for Major League Baseball to change the outcome of the game, and it’s even reached the point where a Monmouth University class has tried to get the league office to credit Galarraga with a perfect game.

However, even though it was a game effort from the New Jersey-based university, Commissioner Rob Manfred wasn’t budging:

Ultimately, we all know it was a perfect game, and unfortunately, there will always be the dreaded * put next to the result.
