Following Day #1 of the 2022 NHL Draft, Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings stayed busy on the phones before Day #2 began as they were able to agree on a trade with the St. Louis for Goaltender Ville Husso.
Shortly after the trade was announced, the Red Wings wasted no time in signing Husso to a contract.
Last season, the 27-year-old native of Finland posted a 25-7-6 regular season record in 40 games played to go along with a 2.56 goals against average, a .919 save percentage, and 2 shutouts. Husso also went 2-5 in seven postseason appearances.
On the same day of the trade, Head Coach Derek Lalonde shored up the rest of his coaching staff with a pair of new hires to go alongside current Assistant Coach Alex Tanguay.
Day #2 of the NHL Draft featured the final six rounds (rounds two through seven), and below is who the Red Wings selected with their final eight picks after taking Marco Kasper in the first round.
Red Wings fans, how do you think Steve Yzerman and his scouting staff did over the weekend of the draft?
