Detroit Tigers Shortstop Javy Baez is planning on playing in the 2023 World Baseball Classic for his native country in Puerto Rico.
Baez also participated in the 2017 World Baseball Classic for Puerto Rico hitting .297 in seven games with a home run and 5 RBI.
Puerto Rico ended up falling to the United States in the Gold Medal Game that year by an 8-0 final.
The 2023 World Baseball Classic will take place March 8-21 with the semifinals and final to be held at LoanDepot Park in Miami, home to the Miami Marlins.
