Detroit Tigers reliever Andrew Chafin is reportedly not picking up his 2023 player option to return to the Motor City.
Chafin was signed by the Tigers in mid-March and was set to make a $6.5 million base salary ($7 million with incentives) if he had decided to return to Detroit next season.
The 32-year-old threw just over 57 innings this past season for the Tigers posting a 2.83 ERA with 67 strikeouts and 19 walks.
In other Tigers news, infielder Jonathan Schoop will pick up his player option for next season at a cool $7.5 million.
The 31-year-old has spent three seasons in Detroit hitting .249 with 41 HR and 145 RBI and was a finalist this past season for the Gold Glove Award at second base in the American League.
