The Detroit Tigers have announced their Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Year for the 2022 season in Kerry Carpenter and Wilmer Flores.
Carpenter, the 25-year-old native of Florida, was drafted by the Tigers in the 19th-round of the 2019 MLB Draft and made his Major League Baseball debut this past season with the Tigers appearing in 31 games and hitting .252 with 6 home runs and 10 runs batted in. Carpenter also spent time in 2022 at the Double-A (Erie SeaWolves) and Triple-A (Toledo Mud Hens) levels.
Flores, the soon-to-be 22-year-old native of Venezuela, spent the 2022 season with both the High-A West Michigan Whitecaps and Double-A Erie SeaWolves posting a 7-4 record with a 2.79 ERA, 130 strikeouts, and 23 walks.
