The Detroit Red Wings were involved in a three-team, three-player trade with the Florida Panthers and Anaheim that resulted in the organization eventually landing center Danny O’Regan from the Ducks, who was then sent down to the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins.
O’Regan, the soon-to-be 29-year-old and former fifth-round pick of the San Jose Sharks during the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, has appeared in 30 career NHL games totaling a goal and five assists and has also skated in 361 career AHL games tallying 99 goals and 174 assists.
Givani Smith, the 24-year-old and former second-round pick by the Red Wings during the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, has played in 85 career NHL games racking up seven goals, seven assists, and 138 penalty minutes. The Toronto native has also skated in 148 career AHL games compiling 26 goals, 26 assists, and 262 penalty minutes.
