The Detroit Red Wings have struck a deal with the San Jose Sharks that featured two American League Hockey players flipping teams.
Weatherby, the soon-to-be 25-year-old and former fourth-round (102nd overall) pick of the Sharks in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft out of the University of North Dakota, has appeared in 50 career NHL games totaling five goals and six assists, all during the 2020-21 season, while also skating in 64 career AHL games, all with the San Jose Barracuda, recording eight goals and thirteen assists.
Criscuolo, the 30-year-old native of New Jersey, just completed his second separate stint with the Griffins (2016-17, 2020-23) and appeared in six games with the Red Wings notching a pair of assists. To date, the former Harvard Crimson has played in 335 career AHL games totaling 77 goals and 110 assists while also skating in 15 career NHL games combined between Detroit and the Buffalo Sabres (9 games).
Jasper Weatherby was immediately assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins following the completion of the trade.
