NBA Trade Deadline: Pistons acquire James Wiseman from Golden State, trade away Saddiq Bey and Kevin Knox

Troy Weaver and the Detroit Pistons made one move at this year’s NBA Trade Deadline, and it involved one of Weaver’s first draft picks back in 2020.

Basically, the Pistons sent Saddiq Bey to the Golden State Warriors, who was then moved to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for five second-round draft picks. Kevin Knox was also dealt to the Warriors, but then sent to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Gary Payton II and five second-round draft picks.

Wiseman, the soon-to-be 22-year-old and former #2 overall pick by Golden State in the 2020 NBA Draft, has appeared in 60 career NBA games accumulating 9.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest. The Tennessee native missed all of the 2021-22 season due to a knee injury. Wiseman has a team option for just over $12 million next season.

The soon-to-be 24-year-old Saddiq Bey was selected by the Pistons with the 19th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and played in 204 career games in Detroit totaling 14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per contest. Bey is currently under contract through the 2023-24 season.

The 23-year-old Kevin Knox is currently in his fifth NBA season after being drafted by the New York Knicks with the 9th overall selection in the 2018 NBA Draft. The Arizona native appeared in 42 games this season with the Pistons tallying 5.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per contest. Knox signed a two-year deal with the Pistons last offseason.
