Grand Valley State athletics and Cumulus Media of Grand Rapids and Muskegon announced a new multi-year deal to broadcast all Laker football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball games live. GVSU athletics will have expanded radio coverage in the West Michigan market beginning with the upcoming fall season, as GVSU will be heard on four stations.
The agreement features the GVSU football weekly radio show and live gameday broadcasts on three stations, including the 50,000-watt flagship station 97 LAV (WLAV-FM 96.9), along with affiliates WJRW-AM 1340/106.1.FM (Grand Rapids) and WLCS-FM 98.3 (Muskegon).
The new agreement highlights our commitment to maximize the exposure for our teams in our local market,” said Deputy Director of Athletics for External Relations Doug Lipinski. “As the Grand Rapids DMA has exploded over the past five years, the addition of WLCS-FM in Muskegon and Thunder 107.3 FM as the flagships for our championship-level basketball programs on four dial locations on your radio in West Michigan will allow us to continue to grow our brand. Our women’s basketball games will be on three stations for the first time in GVSU athletics history,” added Lipinski.
