Lions re-sign Jalen Reeves-Maybin, restructure “Big V’s” contract

Brad Holmes and the Detroit Lions continue to shuffle the deck during the free agency period as a few more moves have been made that includes bringing back a former draft pick after a year away from the organization.

Reeves-Maybin was drafted by the Lions in the fourth-round (124th overall) during the 2017 NFL Draft and spent five seasons in Detroit from 2017-21 totaling 187 tackles. The 27-year-old spent the 2022 season with the Houston Texans recording 15 tackles.

In addition, the Lions have restructured Halapoulivaati Vaitai’s massive contract to create more cap space.

The soon-to-be 30-year-old signed a five-year, $45 million contract with the Lions prior to the 2020 season and has appeared in 25 games through his first three seasons in Detroit that includes missing all of last season with a back injury.
