Former Michigan State Spartan and current Memphis Grizzlies forward/center Jaren Jackson Jr. was named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year for the 2022-23 season.
The 23-year-old is currently in his fifth NBA season, all with the Grizzlies, and led the league in blocks per game this season with 3.0 while also making his first All-Star appearance.
Jackson Jr. was the 4th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Grizzlies after spending one collegiate season in East Lansing during the 2017-18 season.
