Pistons and Monty Williams agree to massive deal to become new head coach

Tom Gores, Troy Weaver, and the Detroit Pistons have reportedly found their new head coach, and they apparently went all in financially to lure Monty Williams to “The Motor City.”

Williams brings nine years of NBA head coaching experience between the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans (2010-15) and Phoenix Suns (2019-23).

The 51-year-old made the playoffs in five of his first nine seasons as a head coach that includes leading the Suns to the 2021 NBA Finals, where they would eventually go on to lose in six games to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Williams also claimed the NBA Coach of the Year award during the 2021-22 season following a 64-18 regular season record in Phoenix.
