We’ve hit August, and at this point, most Detroit Tigers fans have run out off answers to describe the inconsistencies of this baseball team.
Last week featured a 2-3 mark for the Tigers that consisted of splitting a short two-game set in Pittsburgh against the Pirates following losing two of three at home over the weekend against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Now, Detroit sits at 49-62 overall and (still) in third-place in the awful American League Central, good for sitting nine games behind the first-place Minnesota Twins and slipping quickly into “next season” mode.
In terms of the positives from last week, let’s go with a pair of Tigers relievers that picked up their first career Major League Baseball saves by only recording one out in their respective games.
Here’s what’s in store this week for the Tigers with seven games in as many days:
Monday-Thursday: vs. Minnesota Twins (Comerica Park)
Friday-Sunday: at Boston Red Sox (Fenway Park)
