The Detroit Lions returned home for the first time in the 2023 regular season to a raucous Ford Field environment on Sunday to take on the Seattle Seahawks looking to start off 2-0 on the season.
However, the Seahawks had other plans as, like last year, quarterback Geno Smith dissected the Lions defense and erased a 14-7 halftime deficit quickly to gain a 31-21 lead in the fourth quarter.
Jared Goff and the Lions would mount a furious rally to tie the game at 31-31 with no time left in regulation, but after winning the overtime coin toss, Seattle would march right down the field and score the eventual game-winning touchdown to prevail by a 37-31 decision.
Both teams are now 1-1 on the young season.
The Lions will look to bounce back this coming Sunday afternoon back at Ford Field against the 2-0 Atlanta Falcons at 1 pm.
