The #4-ranked Grand Valley State Lakers retained the coveted Anchor-Bone Trophy in beating the previously top-ranked Ferris State Bulldogs by a 49-28 decision during the annual Anchor-Bone Classic this past Saturday at Lubbers Stadium.
The Lakers improve to 5-1 overall on the season and 2-0 in GLIAC play while also improving in the national rankings to #2 in the D2Football (Media) and #4 in the AFCA (Coaches) Polls.

Many individuals stepped up in big ways for the Lakers that included quarterback Avery Moore and linebacker Anthony Cardamone, who earned GLIAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.
