The 2023-24 college basketball season officially tipped off this past weekend for both the Grand Valley State Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams as the men hit the road for a pair of games against teams out of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, while the women entertained a pair of teams from the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Here’s how both teams fared during the opening weekend of play:

Friday, November 10th vs. Missouri St. Louis Tritons – Won 58-45 (1-0) RECAP
Saturday, November 11th vs. Maryville Saints – Won 70-56 (2-0) RECAP
GVSU MEN
Friday, November 10th at Ashland Eagles – Lost 62-61 (0-1) RECAP
Saturday, November 11th at Walsh Cavaliers – Lost 86-75 (0-2) RECAP
The highlight from the weekend came from the women’s side as redshirt junior Ellie Droste reached 1,000 career points and was also tabbed as the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for her pair of performances in both victories:
