Lions grind out Divisional Round home victory over Tampa Bay, head to San Francisco for NFC Championship

For the first time in franchise history, the Detroit Lions have found more than one playoff game in a single postseason.

In the Wild Card Round, it was the Los Angeles Rams at home, 24-23, and in Sunday’s Divisional Round, it was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 31-23, to clinch a berth in the NFC Championship Game for the second time in franchise history and first since the 1991 season.

In their lone appearance in the NFC Championship Game back on January 12, 1992, the Lions were beaten by the Washington Redskins on the road by a 41-10 decision.

The Lions and 49ers have not met since Dan Campbell’s first-ever game as Lions head coach back on September 12, 2021 at Ford Field in which the visitors prevailed by a 41-33 final.
