Tigers endure rough first week after Trade Deadline against top A.L. Central teams

Last week at home, the Detroit Tigers hosted two of the top teams in the American League Central in the Cleveland Guardians and Kansas City Royals and wound up losing five of six to drop its overall record to 53-60 on the season.

To begin the week, Detroit was swept in two games by Cleveland followed by losing three of four to Kansas City in which the offense could only put up 15 runs in the six games combined, good for only 2.5 runs per game.

As a result of last week, the Tigers sit games back of first in the A.L. Central and now ten games out of the last A.L. Wild Card spot, so it’s now safe to assume that any playoff hopes for the 2024 team have been completely washed away.

To try and spin some positive out of the rough week that was, here’s the walk-off winner from the Tigers on Saturday night:

Also on Saturday night, the Tigers honored Hall of Famer Jim Leyland:

This week, Detroit heads out west for six games that begins with a three-game set on Tuesday-Thursday against the Seattle Mariners followed three games against the San Francisco Giants this weekend on Friday-Sunday.
