#2 GVSU claims road victory at Saginaw Valley State, reaches #1 in national polls

In a defensive struggle, the #2-ranked Grand Valley State Football team was able to overcome a 9-3 halftime deficit on the road against their “Battle of the Valleys” rival in the #23-ranked Saginaw Valley State Cardinals and push their way to a 16-9 win to improve to 7-0 on the season and remain unbeaten in GLIAC play at 3-0.

With the loss, the Cardinals fell to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in GLIAC play.

The win paired with a loss by the #1 team in the country in Harding Bisons on Saturday night means that there’s a new top team nationally, and that recognition now goes to Scott Wooster’s group:

This Saturday, all eyes will be on Lubbers Stadium as the #3-ranked Ferris State Bulldogs (6-1, 3-0) take the hour trip down to Allendale for the annual Anchor-Bone Classic with a lot at stake both in the GLIAC and nationally.

Grand Valley State has claimed the Anchor-Bone Trophy the previous two regular season matchups.
