Lions snap Thanksgiving slide, hold off Bears late to capture tenth straight victory

It was tale of two halves for the Detroit Lions during their annual Thanksgiving contest against NFC North rival in the Chicago Bears inside Ford Field as the Lions dominated the first half in jumping out to a 16-0 halftime lead only to see the Bears claw their way back into the game and have an opportunity to possibly force overtime in the waning seconds of regulation.

However, due to a head coaching malfunction, it would be the Lions who would prevail to remain atop of the NFC North standings as we head into the month of December.

With the win, the Lions continue to stay in the top spot in the NFC with the 10-2 Philadelphia Eagles still within striking distance.

Here’s how the NFC North stacks up following Week #13:

Detroit Lions – 11-1 (3-0 NFC North)
Minnesota Vikings – 10-2 (2-1 NFC North)
Green Bay Packers – 9-3 (1-2 NFC North)
Chicago Bears – 4-8 (0-3 NFC North)

By the way, following their inexplicable late-game loss to the Lions, Chicago decided to make a head coaching change the very next day:

This week, the Lions are back home inside Ford Field for another Thursday NFC North nationally-televised battle against those Green Bay Packers at 8:15 pm.
