In what initially looked like a potential breakout season for the Western Michigan Broncos football program after beginning MAC play with a 4-0 record, the second half of the conference slate did not do them any favors in going 1-3 and tumbling to a 6-6 overall record to cap off the regular season.
However, the Broncos did earn bowl eligibility status and received an invite to head down to Montgomery, Alabama to take on the 6-6 South Alabama Jaguars in the Salute to Veterans Bowl.
After getting off to a quick start and building an early 10-0 lead, the Broncos would give up the next 16 points and were unable to get their lead back in the end.
The second season of the Lance Taylor era sees the Broncos finish at 6-7 overall and 5-3 in MAC play after going 4-8 overall and 3-5 in MAC play during his first year in Kalamazoo.
