For the first time in franchise history, the Detroit Lions have earned the #1 overall seed in the NFC and a first-round bye in the NFL Playoffs as the defense plus a career night from Jahmyr Gibbs were the powerful forces in a convincing 31-9 home victory over the Minnesota Vikings in the regular season finale to finish the regular season with a 15-2 mark.
Here’s how the NFC Playoffs line up as the Lions will await their Divisional Round opponent and enjoy the Super Wild Card Weekend off:
#1 Seed – Detroit Lions (15-2) – BYE WEEK
#7 Green Bay Packers (11-6) at #2 Philadelphia Eagles (14-3) – Sunday at 4:30 pm
#6 Washington Commanders (12-5) at #3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-7) – Sunday at 8:20 pm
#5 Minnesota Vikings (14-3) at #4 Los Angeles Rams (10-7) – Monday at 8:15 pm
The Lions will host the lowest remaining seed the following weekend (January 18th or 19th) in the Divisional Round, and if they win that game, they’ll host the NFC Championship Game for the first time in franchise history on Sunday, January 20th at 3 pm.
Then, it’s Super Bowl LIX down in New Orleans on Sunday, February 9th at 6:30 pm against the AFC Champion.
Here’s hoping….
