Pistons land #6 seed in Eastern Conference, to face New York in the first round of the playoffs

It was a historic turnaround for the Detroit Pistons this season finishing with a 44-38 regular season record and capturing their first playoff berth since finishing the 2018-19 season with a 41-41 record and earning the #8 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, which resulted in that Pistons team getting swept in four games by the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks.

This season, the Pistons were able to avoid the play-in round and earn the #6 seed in the East and will take on the #3 seed New York Knicks in a first round best-of-seven series that begins on Saturday night in New York.

During the regular season, the Pistons went 3-1 against the Knicks that included a pair of victories in Madison Square Garden.

The last three Pistons playoff appearances in 2009, 2016, and 2019 ended in sweeps by the opposition in Cleveland (twice) and Milwaukee, respectively, in #8 vs. #1 seed matchups.

Detroit will look to win their first playoff game while also attempt to win its first postseason series since the 2008 playoffs when they last made the Eastern Conference Finals eventually losing to the Boston Celtics in six games.
