Xavier Tillman wins Big Ten defensive player of the year

Grand Rapids native Xavier Tillman has really embraced his role with the Michigan State Spartans. He does a little bit of everything for his team.

Tillman is second on the team in scoring, leads the team in rebounds and blocked shots and is third on the team in assists.

He’s their biggest defensive presence. Tillman was named Big Ten defensive player of the year for his efforts.

According to the Michigan State Spartans official site, Tillman is the first player to average at least 13 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocked shots per game since Tim Duncan’s college days.
