Legendary Michigan, Tigers, And Lions Voice Frank Beckmann Passes Away At Age 72

A Detroit and Michigan sports legend passed away over the weekend as legendary voice for Michigan Football, the Detroit Lions, and Detroit Tigers Frank Beckmann died Saturday evening at the age of 72 after a battle with vascular dementia.

Beckmann began his career at WJR as a reporter in 1973, launched a pioneering sports talk show called Sportswrap eight years later, called play-by-play for Michigan football, the Detroit Lions, and Detroit Tigers, and spent his last 17 years at the station hosting a 9 am weekday talk show.
