Tigers Option Spencer Torkelson To Triple-A Toledo

Spencer Torkelson, the former #1 overall pick in the 2020 Major League Baseball Draft by the Detroit Tigers, has had a rough start to his Major League career.

In 83 games played this season, Torkelson has hit just .197 (52-for-264) with 5 HR and 21 RBI, but the bigger issue is his strikeout-to-walk ratio to the tune of 76 strikeouts and 29 walks.

Based on his continued struggles, the Tigers had no choice but to make this move with the All-Star break now here….

Tigers Manager A.J. Hinch told Torkelson, “I told Tork it could be 10 days, it could be two weeks, it could be a month. It doesn’t matter how long it takes to get him back to feeling good.”

Tigers fans, did the organization rush Torkelson to the big leagues too soon, or is this a coaching issue?
