Tigers Weekly Report: Somehow, a winning week happened

Whenever the Detroit Tigers accumulate a winning week, you’ll take it and run with it.

After dropping two of three at home to the Atlanta Braves to kick off last week, the Tigers rebounded emphatically on the road taking three of four from the first-place Minnesota Twins to end the week above .500.

As we enter the backend of June, the Tigers, believe it or not, are still within five games of the top spot in the American League Central with a 30-40 overall record, but on a side note, the Twins, who somehow still lead the division, are exactly at .500 overall.

On a few positive notes, 40-year-old Miguel Cabrera went yard for the first time in 2023, and Spencer Torkelson is starting to maybe figure some things out at the plate:

Through 70 games, is there something to be optimistic about with these Tigers?

This week’s schedule features nothing but A.L. Central competition at home for the Tigers:

Monday-Wednesday: vs. Kansas City Royals (Comerica Park)
Friday-Sunday: vs. Minnesota Twins (Comerica Park)
