The Detroit Red Wings have announced the addition of two assistant coaches to new head coach Dan Watson’s staff on the Grand Rapids Griffins in Stephane Julien and Brian Lashoff.
Julien spent his entire coaching career with the Sherbrooke Phoenix of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) serving as an assistant from 2012-16 before taking over the head coaching reigns midway through the 2015-16 season.
The 32-year-old Lashoff begins his coaching career after serving all or parts of 14 seasons on the Griffins’ blue line from 2008-13 and 2014-23. Lashoff was also on the Griffins during both of their Calder Cup Championship runs in 2013 and 2017.
