Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings were extremely busy during Day Two of the NHL Entry Draft in Nashville in making nine more selections to bring their 2023 total up to eleven picks.
Officially, the Red Wings selected two centers, two left wingers, five defensemen, and two goaltenders.
Before we get to the players taken, Detroit also made a Day Two with their former general manager in Ken Holland and the Edmonton Oilers:
Both Klim Kostin and Kailer Yamamoto are 24 years old and were first-round selections in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by St. Louis (31st overall) and Edmonton (22nd overall), respectively.
Yamamoto has one year left on his current deal at $3.1 million before becoming a restricted free agent, while Kostin is a current restricted free agent.
Now, on to the players that were picked by the Red Wings in Day Two of the draft to go with first-rounders Nate Danielson (9th overall) and Axel Sandin Pellikka (17th overall):
By our count, Detroit currently holds ten picks in the upcoming 2024 NHL Entry Draft that includes a pair of first-round selections.
