Like many years prior, this year’s Detroit Tigers team may not be talented or deep, but let’s give credit where credit is due….this team scraps.
Following a 4-3 road trip in Texas and Colorado, the Tigers just refuse to totally go away as they now sit at 37-46 overall and just four games out of first-place in the American League Central with two games in hand on the top team in the Minnesota Twins, who lead the division with a, wait for it, 42-43 overall mark.
Yikes.
This past week, the Tigers split a four-game series with the Texas Rangers followed by claiming two of three against the Colorado Rockies to post a winning week.
The big story of the week came on Sunday, where the offense exploded for 14 runs and did something that hasn’t been done in almost a decade and a half.
Also, the Tigers found out on Sunday who their lone representative for the All-Star Game will be in Seattle, and it’s someone NO ONE expected:
Before the All-Star Game hits, the Tigers will wrap up the first half of the season with a six-game homestand this week and an opportunity to possibly make a charge back towards the .500 mark:
Tuesday-Thursday: vs. Oakland Athletics (Comerica Park)
Friday-Sunday: vs. Toronto Blue Jays (Comerica Park)
