Lions fill backup quarterback void in signing former first-round pick Teddy Bridgewater

The Detroit Lions have found their backup to Jared Goff for the upcoming 2023 season in the signing of former 2014 first-round pick Teddy Bridgewater.

The 30-year-old Bridgewater was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings with the 32nd overall pick in 2014 and has appeared in 78 games (65 starts) through eight NFL seasons totaling over 15,000 passing yards to go with 75 passing touchdowns and 47 interceptions.

The former Louisville Cardinal will suit up for his sixth different team this season after spending time with the Vikings (three seasons), New Orleans Saints (two seasons), Carolina Panthers (one season), Denver Broncos (one season), and Miami Dolphins (one season).
