Michigan State finds new head football coach in Oregon State’s Jonathan Smith

The Michigan State Spartans have found their new football head coach in Oregon State’s Jonathan Smith, who spent the last six seasons at his alma mater posting a 34-35 record that includes a ten-win season in 2022.

The 44-year-old Smith had six years remaining on his contract with the Beavers, worth $31.2 million through 2029, with a $3 million buyout.

The hiring of Jonathan Smith will need approval from MSU’s Board of Trustees, which is next scheduled to meet December 15th but could convene sooner to approve a contract.
