After a disastrous start to their three-city, ten-game road trip last weekend in Anaheim, the Detroit Tigers were to somehow bounce back this past week in Minnesota and Cincinnati and end the trip at 5-5 before they finish up the first half of the 2024 season at home.
The past week began with the Tigers dropping two of three against the surging Twins before going taking on the Reds and sweeping them out of their own ballpark in the three-game series over the weekend.
Going into the final week of the first half, the Tigers sit at 42-48 overall and still well back of the first-place Cleveland Guardians at 15 games back.
On Sunday, not only did Tarik Skubal notch a new career-high in strikeouts with 13 against the Reds, but he was one of two Tigers to be named to the American League All-Star Game joining teammate Riley Greene:
The Tigers return home to Comerica Park this week to take on two of Major League Baseball’s best in the Cleveland Guardians on Monday-Thursday and Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday-Sunday.
