Tigers roar into the postseason for the first time since 2014

Unbelievable, improbable, shocking, impossible.

Those are just a few descriptive words that describe the Detroit Tigers’ incredible run over the past few months in which they surged past multiple playoff-contending teams to grab an American League Wild Card spot and make the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

The Tigers concluded the regular season at Comerica Park with a three-game sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays and losing two of three to the lowly Chicago White Sox, but the last two games of the season don’t count after what happened on Friday night in front of a capacity crowd:

Detroit finished the season with an 86-76 overall record and even with Kansas City for second-place in the A.L. Central behind the division-winning Cleveland Guardians, who finished the season 92-69.

Now, the Tigers get set for the playoffs and the Wild Card round as manager A.J. Hinch gets set to face his former team in the Houston Astros in a best-of-three series all on the road that begins on Tuesday afternoon.

Oh, and one last thing, just give Tarik Skubal the Cy Young already:
