The #1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament proved to be too much over the past weekend for both the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans as the Auburn Tigers were able to muscle their way to a berth in next weekend’s Final Four in San Antonio.
The Wolverines were unable to hold a nine-point second half lead with 12:29 to go and saw the Tigers go on a 39-17 spurt to end the game in their Friday night Sweet 16 matchup, while the Spartans relinquished an early 17-0 first half run after leading 8-6 to start the game and could never overcome the deficit during their Elite Eight setback on Sunday.
Prior to their Elite Eight loss, the Spartans would rally to power their way to a Sweet 16 victory over Ole Miss on Friday night.
Michigan’s 2024-25 season ends with a 27-10 record, a Big Ten Tournament Championship, and a Sweet 16 berth.
Michigan State 2024-25 season finishes with a 30-7 overall mark, a Big Ten Regular Season Championship, and a spot in the Elite Eight.
